21st-Nov-2008 08:50 pm - New McDonald's Delivery Website
red shoes

After massively promoting their delivery service under the tag "8MCDO", McDonald's suddenly took down their site and setup another one... without people knowing about it!

Geez, I haven't eaten McDo in a week and that isn't normal for me. Haha. Sorry na, I love McDo.  So, I was looking for their website to order, and was just surprised to be faced with a blank green screen. Awr.

I did what anyone else would've done: use the phone. Haha. Still, I was curious as to what happened with the online service.  Lo and behold, I managed to find a blog that talked about it.  So... in order to spread the word around and to increase its page rank in Google, I shall put a link here for people who might find it useful.  Warning though, some prices haven't been set yet and I deem that glitches might be very common with this new site.  Still, it's just plain stupid for them to not redirect from 8mcdo.com to the new site.

OH WELL, HOPE THIS HELPS :)

Christmas
  • also known as Christmas Day or Christmastide, is an annual holiday falling on December 25 or January 7 that honors and celebrates the birth of Jesus of Nazareth (Wikipedia)

Yep, Christmas is in the air. It's almost halfway through November and we know what that means.  It's time to put up our trees, wreaths, and decorations to celebrate one of my most favorite Holidays of the year.  Since I've been tagging along with my tita's Christmas thing, I've managed to surround myself with Christmas-themed decors, sights and sounds, that only make me feel the spirit more. :)

I remember my favorite Christmas songs again:

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...
Toys in every store
But the prettiest sight to see is the holly that will be
On your own front door.
--Johnny Mathis

They always seem to play this song in any movie with a Christmas scene... Just think Home Alone, Sleepless in Seattle, etc... Another favorite of mine is:

I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true...
All I want for Christmas is You
--Mariah Carey

Haha. Once again, I deem it time to release my annual Christmas Wish List.  I made one last year and I'm proud to say that I got most of it done. Haha. This year though, I have a pretty dynamic list. (In no particular order)

1. A laptop

I'm considering between settling for a netbook (i.e. Acer Aspire One, Dell Inspiron Mini, HP Mini Note) or a real actual 13/14" average laptop.  I love the idea of a netbook for its size and portability, but if I do intend to be the usual HEAVY USER that I am, a normal laptop's specs would probably suit my needs better.

2. Nikon D60

My dad told me he would accompany my to Hidalgo to buy this, but he still hasn't... and I don't know if I will ever get around to going there on my own... BUT I REALLY DO WANT THIS CAMERA. I just don't think I want to spend for it at the moment. Haha. Still, I want to have a DSLR of my own.

3. A double breasted jacket/coat

I have this thing with jackets and coats.  I want to own one that's double breasted, with big buttons, preferrably black or gray or cream. :)

4. A trip to KL-Singapore/Macau/Hong Kong

I want to travel this Christmas.  I've never been to Macau and I want to go to see the architecture, the mixture of Europe and Asia, as well as visit the newly constructed Venetian Macau.  Haha. I might even try to gamble a bit -- if given the chance.  On the KL Singapore thing, PAL is offering a package for fare and transfers for 5 days in total at KL and Singapore.  I want to go. I've never been to both.  As for Hong Kong, I just want to see Disneyland.  I heard that they're going to have a special Christmas show and I want to see it too. Haha. I want to go to a lot of places. :) Obvious ba?

5. Nintendo Wii and Guitar Hero World Tour Band Set

Haha. Kelangan pa ba i-explain? Gusto ko lang. :)

I still haven't figured out if there are any decent events this coming December.  But I'd love to go out with friends again and meet up for our yet-to-be-planned-and-decided Christmas get-together. Haha.  Looking forward to bazaars and shows, perhaps? I'll add more wishes when they hit me.

6th-Nov-2008 08:03 pm - Everybody wants to be a Democrat
red shoes
Democratic
  • characterized by or advocating or based upon the principles of democracy or social equality (Princeton)
  • belong to or relating to the Democratic Party; "Democratic senator"(Princeton)

Congratulations to Barack Obama for winning the United States Presidential Elections.  It has been a long and well-fought battle, starting from the time wherein he had to fight it out with the best Democratic Nominees (i.e. Hilary Rodham Clinton) to secure the spot as the party's official candidate.

Everyone seems to want to be part of the Democratic Party these days.  I don't know exactly how many of them know and believe what it stands for though.  It just really pays to be with the winner... BANDWAGON EFFECT.

Personally, I don't have any direct benefits to reap from whoever wins the election.  But I was for Barack Obama.  Why?  I see in him something that reminds me of former President Marcos.  He is a very charismatic man who speaks well and knows how to relate to all types of people.  He is one who had very good education, having graduated from Harvard Law School.  He has only served less than 5 years in senate, I think; but his youth is an advantage as I see it.  He still has fresh ideas, or new ways of looking at things, unlike the United States' own version of TRAPOS... something that McCain sort of stands for.  It didn't help as well that George W. Bush sucked as a President.  Look at their economy.  The country fought 2 wars, both of which, some contest, are WARS THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN FOUGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Admittedly, Obama had a lot of help from the youth, and the various democrats that exercised their right to vote.  Whoever handled his campaign also did a good job, as he used radical yet ingenious ways of being heard.  The internet was a powerful tool in this case.  People were able to relate easier to Obama as just another person, when they see him making his statements on YouTube.

He is one lucky guy.  Right now, he has the cleanest slate ever.  Most analysts say that they might not have any problems with him: He seems to love his wife, He's a smart man, He doesn't have any bad political issues (as of the moment)... There might not be anything to criticize him on (for now).  But he will need to step up really quickly because victory will only be sweet for so long.  He will need to work hard and redeem the American nation.

I think he's probably the best man to do the job, and a lot of people are hopeful as I am.  However, he needs all the help he can get.  It might even take a miracle.

3rd-Nov-2008 10:06 pm - Starting Over
red shoes
Starting
  • appropriate to the beginning or start of an event (Princeton)
Over
  • at or to a point across intervening space (Princeton)

...together, these words mean that I am once again back at square one.

square one.

I decided to erase my blog.  That wasn't an easy task as well.  I didn't want to delete this account, but I just wanted to get rid of the things that I previously wrote, most of which are things that I couldn't even believe were produced by these same fingers I am now typing this with.  LJ was a bit delete proof, though, since I had to open (edit) each entry in order to delete it.  LJ doesn't have the "DELETE ALL" function. So, you can say that I went through a lot of trouble to start again.  But why start over?

Well, I felt that I wanted to write about different things, probably not much differently than how I used to write.  But this time though, no crossposting to multiply will commence.  I will try to avoid using this blog for narrative updates on events in my personal life.  I will strive to keep writing about things, thoughts, ideas, that of course are relevant to me. :)

I think I deserve a fresh start.  My multiply blog might be dead for a while, since I realized how much I loved writing on LJ more.  This will be my free association space in the internet.  And I intend to be free here.
